Cookie Crunch
(Beck-B., 2025) Bx05-36 (unknown x unknown)
4.5"-5", 24", ML, Sev., Tet, 15 buds, 4 way branching
Pink yellow cream with cream green spreading out of the throat, golden yellow edge, extra extra substance and lots of diamond sparkles.
This flower has the most substance of any daylily I grow! It is like a Cookie and has sugar crystals sparkling on the surface. For many years I have had this flower in the patch. But because my main goal for years was the biggest round flower I could get. This one was just too small to fit the bill. So I just kept moving it around when I would make changes to my daylily beds. I will never get rid of it even though it is smallish. I should have shared it years ago. I'm not kidding about the substance. I like to take a blossom and put it in the freezer for an extended awesome flower to look at and feel.
(Beck-B., 2025) Bx20-9 (Greek Art x Cool Beans)
6", 28", M, Sev., Tet, 22 buds, 5 way
Pink rose faun base color with patterned raspberry purple eye on petals and sepals
I was super excited when this one bloomed and kept blooming with a nice broken pattern. I am always disappointed when I see a wonderful broken pattern in a seedling and then the next blooms just have a solid eye zone. Broken patterns are so unpredictable! I cross my fingers and hope that it will be rock solid with this trait where ever it grows. The plant is a healthy grower and has a wonderful scape. As a retired farmer in Idaho and an ex potato grower, I just had to give it this name.
(Beck-B., 2025) Bx17-9 (Oh Erica x Simply Leaves Me Breathless)
6", 34", ML, Sev., Tet, 16 buds, 3 way
Cream with a huge raspberry red eye and edge, small green throat blending outward with orange tones.
In the beginning one of my obsessions with daylilies was the eye and picotee edged ones. When I first bloomed Oh Erica, It was one of my first really big moments. I knew I had something special. I can't remember how long after that, I obtained Simply Leaves Me Breathless. Simply Leaves Me Breathless was my favorite purple eye and edge for quite some time. I knew these two would make something great. Lots of crossing between them. I had so many wonderfully beautiful seedlings. But they all looked like Simply Leaves Me Breathless. One day I was looking through all of the purple and cream I saw something different. There it was bright red! It was a standout. I later realized it was more of a raspberry red. Lighted Stage is a wonderful grower and has a great plant under it.
Rush
$150.00 Double Fan
Limited
(Beck-B., 2025) Bx20-50 (Four Beasts In One x Waves Of Joy)
6", 29", M, Sev., Tet, 18 buds, 4 way
Pink faun base with a patterned eye of shades of blue, violet, purple and raspberry, green throat
The band Rush is one of my favorites. The band has some of the best percussion with a sound that seems to radiate. This daylily reminds me of this unique sound with the eye zone radiating out great waves of color. Always has a pattern but not always the same. Some days less ripples. One of the biggest best plants to support that great scape.
(Beck-B., 2025) Bx20-7 (Bx09-9 x Leah Beck)
6"-6.5", 27", M, Sev, Tet, 16 buds, 4 way branching
Very dark burgundy with light burgundy water mark eye, green throat, light burgundy and gold petal edge
This is the one! When I first started to work with daylilies my goal was large flowers with rich colors in purple. That was in the early 1990's. I have reached some goals along the way, but this is what I dreamed of. The first time it bloomed I wanted to show everyone I could find. I had never seen such rich color in a daylily with thick substance. I saw my closest neighbor walking down the road (she lives a 1/2 mile away). I could hardly wait to drag her to the spot where it was blooming. I'm sure she thought I was a nut job. I have used it quite a bit as a parent and have got some very nice rich colored kids. I have included just a couple pics of Saturation Overload's kids. Very good plant habit is a bonus.
(Beck-B., 2025) Bx19-1 (Burley Boy seedling Bx11-12 x Whirling White)
7", 35", ML, D, Tet., 19 buds, 4 way
Peach pink with ribs coming out of the throat, very wide petals on a big full formed flower
I Treasure Integrity! In a world where it is hard to find people with integrity I named this one to honor those who I can trust. When I was a kid my Grandfather gave me a talk about how important it is to keep his name clean. Be honest, do what you say you will do, if you make a mistake own up to it and try to make it right the best you can. Just to name a few. He was very stern about this subject. Later, I learned that everything he said was the definition of Integrity. I could talk all day about Integrity, but I will spare the preaching. Just google it for yourself and you will see how few people have it today. Am I perfect, no but I have always tried to live up to my grandfathers stern teachings.
This is a very big full formed bloom. I have worked hard for years to get this one. I remember the first year that this giant beauty bloomed I said to myself, "and it is on a wonderful scape!" I was so happy with it I sent a picture with it's stats to a mentor of mine Paul Genho. He texted back with, "Now you are cooking with gas". I have never priced a daylily over $250 before and this year I have two that I think are worthy.
